Better Future International is dedicated to improving the lives of orphaned children by providing the security of a family structure, the opportunity that comes with proper education, and the physical benefits of proper nutrition and medical care. We invest in the futures of children, making sure they have the tools they need to become independent young adults participants in their own economy, helping move their own countries into the future.
Through our programs in Haiti, Tanzania, Dominican Republic and Sri Lanka, we have successfully taken successfully taken a sustainable approach to addressing the immediate and long-term needs of the orphaned children while improving disadvantaged communities. .
Our projects function through two different program models, the "Family Care" Model and the "Home Care" Model. The Family Care Model supports orphans living in family settings with aunts, uncles, grandparents, or other suitable guardians. The children are raised in loving home environments that are beneficial to their growth and development and the families are provided nutritious food, healthcare, education and supportive services to ensure that they are able to provide the care the child needs. Our aim is both to strengthen the family unit and prevent the abandonment of the child to an Orphan home.
The Home Care Model supports orphans living in small homes that are supervised by permanent house parents who offer a similar healthy loving environment that a family has to offer. This model provides care for children who do not have extended family capable of providing care.
At Better Future International we believe our greatest responsibility is providing the best possible care for the children in our programs. In every decision we make, the well-being of the children is our first priority.
We believe our second greatest responsibility is the trust of our donors. For that reason we ensure that all funds and resources are used wisely, with consideration and full accountability. We can guarantee that 100% of restricted donations are allocated to the chosen project; nothing is deducted for administration.
Better Future International (registered in New York State under the name Orphans International America) is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization organized under the laws of New York State.
Our mission is to create a better future for orphaned and abandoned children through the provision of nutritious food, healthcare, education and supportive services in a family environment so that children have the opportunity to not only survive, but thrive.
History
Orphans International America, now doing business as Better Future International, was incorporated in 2002 as a response to the global crisis facing orphaned children. The organization first opened its doors to children in Haiti and Indonesia, operating successful small-home ÒorphanagesÓ for twelve children with three permanent house parents.
While we will continue to operate these small homes until the current children are able to support themselves as productive members of their community. All new programming will utilize a Family Care Model.
To best serve the world´s many orphaned children we must work to place them in family settings - with aunts, uncles, grandparents, or other suitable guardians - where they can not only survive, but thrive.
